It is 1801, the "Peace of Amiens" has just been signed and Harry is outward bound on HMS Spartan for the Prison colony in New South Wales, they are tasked with escorting a convoy of prison ships. He must battle to survive and prove his leadership amid storms, slavers, battles and the bullying of his peers. His voyage will lay the foundations for his future.

Born in Cape Town and educated at Selborne College in East London (The South African one, not the other place in the UK), Patrick is a published technical author and a now retired Fire Fighter and lecturer after thirty-six years of soot, heat, blood, sweat and laughter. He has spent the last twenty-three years in England and now lives in Germany. He was a Licensed Minister in the Church of England, has three adult children of whom he is enormously proud, and has created this series of books in pursuit of his own dreams of spacefaring and adventure.
His career has taken him to the Romania, Poland, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Australia, the USA, Caribbean, Thailand, the Middle East and West Africa. He has appeared on television in several of these countries in his professional role. His books draw on experiences of working in a uniformed service and for governments.
